Moretto at drinktec: advanced solutions for PET processing

Moretto will showcase at drinktec – Hall C5, Stand 315 – cutting-edge automations that enhance efficiency, promote circularity, and optimise material traceability.

The growing demand for equipment capable of processing not only virgin materials, but also high percentages of recycled materials, has prompted Moretto to develop a range of automation solutions to satisfy the diverse needs of customers.

Featured equipment includes the MPK Cristallyzer, the powerful HYPER CUT grinder, and an impressive PET drying system installation on a mezzanine.

MPK Crystallizer is a system designed to convert amorphous materials, such as PET regrind, into a crystallised state ready for treatment. Only perfectly processed r-PET can be used alongside virgin plastic polymers in other production processes.

MPK is designed to enhance usability from every point of view: cleaning and production changes are safe and fast thanks to the cone opening, maintenance is facilitated by the removable blades which can be adjusted according to the material type, and the whole system can be managed through an advanced 10" colour touch screen.

The patented shockproof stainless steel hopper finishing - SPYRO - isolates the mixer body from external agents and contains heat dispersion, increasing its energy efficiency.

MPK can be equipped with the Vortex filtration device, which intercepts dust up to 20 microns and greatly increases the autonomy of the filter inside the dryer body, and the Purex condensate separator which captures and removes oily and/or resinous substances contained in the vapors after the process. These impurities are typically present in materials of post-consumer origin.

Moretto will also present a new development in recycling and material recovery, thereby confirming its commitment to transitioning to a more environmentally friendly economy.

The granulation concept evolves with HYPER CUT, a high productivity grinder (up to 1.200 kg/h), ideal for grinding waste pieces, preforms, and blown parts. Its versatility surprises even the most demanding professionals in the injection moulding, extrusion, blow moulding, and thermoforming sectors. Its flexible rotor design allows the cutting elements to be set to process any type of waste pieces, ensuring high performance in all conditions, with unrivalled results in terms of productivity, regrind quality, reduced noise impact and total absence of dust. The perfect balance of power and precision!

Among the equipment on display on the mezzanine, there will be a XD 800 X series dryer: an innovative drying system for large-scale productions and specific for technical polymers such as PET. This dryer features self-adaptive technology that optimises process conditions and reduces energy consumption. Thanks to the variable airflow, it automatically adapts to production needs ensuring the correct supply of technological air to the material to be treated, preserving the polymer from thermal stress and viscosity variations. The innovative turbo compressor system, combined with the energy recovery system from the regeneration process, offers extraordinary energy efficiency. This one power system does not require compressed air or cooling water to operate. The system configuration and control activities are facilitated thanks to the implementation of a touch view control with a simple and intuitive interface. Programming requires to set only two parameters: material type and throughput. Once set, the machine can manage all the process variables automatically.

The use of sophisticated dosing systems ensures the production of finished products that meet high-quality and performance standards. In this context, the synergy between speed and precision in component mixing is essential to ensure an optimal result from both a technical and aesthetic point of view, while simultaneously minimizing production waste.

The DGM MAXI GRAVIX series of gravimetric batch blenders have been designed for this purpose offering highly flexible, yet modular solutions to larger throughput applications for production up to 12.000 kg/h, a machine that can treat up to 12 components.

Exclusive element of the DGM GRAVIX is the dosing eyelids, which ensure a high dosing standard thanks to an extremely fast reaction time, of only 40 ms. The double-effect mixer guarantees a homogeneous mix. A model of the 900 series, specifically designed for processing flakes and chips, will be exposed at the show.
